Selective perennial ryegrass control in creeping bentgrass with flazasulfuron
نویسندگان
چکیده
Lolium perenne L. (perennial ryegrass) commonly contaminates Agrostis stolonifera (creeping bentgrass) on cool-season golf courses. Currently, few herbicide options are available for the selective control of in A. stolonifera. Previous studies have indicated that flazasulfuron could be a potential solution, so trials were conducted at three sites Blacksburg, VA to evaluate rates and sequential treatments response. Flazasulfuron applied once 8.8 g a.i. ha−1; twice 1.1, 2.2, 4.4 times 1.1 2.2 ha−1 completely controlled by 5 weeks after initial treatment (WAIT). Sulfosulfuron bispyribac-sodium 68 35% WAIT, respectively. All eliminated cover, sulfofulfuron reduced cover from 34 11% one site, did not influence 9 WAIT. generally caused up 10% injury within week each but only sulfosulfuron unacceptable persistent injury. sequence ≤2.2 causes mild transient discoloration controls perenne.

Evaluation of Phosphonate Fungicides for Control of Pythium Blight on Creeping Bentgrass and Perennial Ryegrass
Phosphonate fungicides are used by golf course managers to control Pythium diseases, suppress anthracnose basal rot, alleviate summer stress, and improve turf quality. In many areas of the northeast, phosphonate products are applied at regular intervals throughout the summer as part of a fairway and putting green management program. Currently, over a dozen phosphonate fungicides and fertilizers...
متن کاملMoss Control in Creeping Bentgrass Putting Greens
Moss (Bryum argenteum) continues to become one of the most problematic weeds in creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) putting greens. Control of moss can be approached in many different ways, including chemical applications, and cultural practices such as correcting shading or poor drainage. A study was conducted at Springdale Country Club (Springdale, Ark.) to evaluate the effectiveness of s...

Printed on recycled paper SUMMER 2001 24 A Healthy Ecosystem Inconsistent performance of biological control strategies for turfgrass disease control has limited the adoption of this technology into IPM programs. A major contributing factor to this variable performance in agricultural systems is the cultivar to which biological control organisms are applied. In a recent study, our goal was to de...
متن کاملPollen-mediated gene flow from transgenic perennial creeping bentgrass and hybridization at the landscape level
The planting of 162 ha of transgenic glyphosate-resistant creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) near Madras, OR, USA, allowed a unique opportunity to study gene flow over time from a perennial outcrossing species at the landscape level. While conducting a four year in situ survey, we collected panicles and leaf tissue samples from creeping bentgrass and its sexually compatible species. Seed...
متن کاملSimulating perennial ryegrass cutting
Perennial ryegrass is one of the most commonly cultivated forage species in Europe, where grazing and mowing (cutting) are used to manage this resource. Cutting can be characterized by its intensity (height) and its frequency. Combinations of these two factors affect mono-species grasslands productivity and could also modify the genotypic composition of heterogeneous populations. Indeed, the hi...
